Moanna’s Day Camp Report

May Vaca Day 3 185

This is what Moanna had to say about her first day at day camp when I asked her about all of the exciting things she did…

Quoted from Moanna…

We had two snacks.

We had lunch, but I only ate my cookies and some grapes. (Raise your hand if this surprises you… Nope? No one?)

I got hurt two times. I fell on my butt once, and some boys were running around and made me fall and hurt my knee.

We played freeze tag.

As soon as we got to the pool, they turned off the mushroom and we had to take a break.

I forgot my goggles in my backpack, so I had to cover my eyes in the water.

I made some new friends, but I don’t remember their names.

My counselors were nice, but I don’t remember their names either.

We played other games, but I don’t remember what they were called.

We didn’t do any crafts, but maybe we will a different day.

Tomorrow I will eat my cheese, crackers, cookies and grapes, but I do NOT want to eat my meat.

Can I go to day camp everyday? I want to go everyday.

I watched her play for a few minutes when I went to pick her up before she saw me. She was having a good time with a small group of girls doing whatever it is that little girls do. She was excited to see me when she spotted me, but she was not excited to talk. Usually she loves to tell us every single detail of her life, but she was too worn out to entertain my inquisitive mind. I didn’t think she would stay awake for the short car ride home, but she did. It took me most of the evening to get this information pulled out of her. I could tell I was getting on her nerves, but slowly the details emerged. Finally when I was putting her to bed, I got the one detail that I cared the most about. “Can I go to day camp everyday? I want to go everyday.”

*PS. This picture has zero to do with day camp. It’s one of our pictures from Disney World.*

I should have taken an after picture when she got home last night, but Moanna wasn’t in the mood for people or cameras or much of anything except some peace and quiet. I’ll let you paint your own pictures. Her pigtails were a frizzy mess, she had evidence of cookies on her shirt, her eyes were half open and the excitement in her face had been replaced with exhaustion and a look of “keep your distance.”

10 hours of day camp wears her out! Some days she comes home and chills, and other days she comes home and is so exhausted she’s emotional about everything.
