Unexpected Memories

Memorial Day Weekend 063

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend, and your work week is getting off to a great start.

Our Memorial Day weekend was pretty low key. The last part of the week was pretty trying and left us in a funk, so we took advantage of the holiday weekend to be lazy and lame. The funny thing is that when you are making an exaggerated effort to be bums, sometimes unexpected memories and fun occur.

While we were doing our best to hate on life, we decided to move our grumpy butts outside for some sunshine for a challenge because you know it’s harder to be a grumpy butt in the sunshine. Being a grumpy butt inside a beige and gloomy house is a piece of cake, being a grumpy butt in the bright and warm sunshine is no easy feat.

I talked Steve into helping me plant the herbs my Mom bought us for our anniversary.

He agreed on the condition that he didn’t have to actually put his hands in the dirt.

About five minutes in, he was digging in the dirt.

He ended up doing most of the work.

Don’t they look lovely? By the next morning half of them were on the verge of death. Theparsley is totally gone, but we’re trying to revive the mint and dill. The others are doing so-so. This will make the third time I’ve attempted to grow herbs. Why won’t herbs grow for me?

When we were done with the herbs, Steve cleaned out one of our coolers that was in need of attention. He decided he “needed” Moanna’s help.

Then the war broke out…

Shortly after the laughter followed…

And then Moanna took matters into her own hands…

People think that laughter is the best medicine, but sunshine sure does go a long way.

Love your shirt, it’s a classic. Looks like you had a really fun time! The secret to herbs for me in the south has been to water them more than you think you have too. It’s sooo hot and so humid that they just need more attention. But sometimes it’s also just a curse. I can’t grow tomatoes worth a hoot and they’re suppose to be the easiest.

Great pics!! Lots and lots of H2O is my advice on the herbs, but your grandma has the green thumb……
