Pregnancy: Weeks 25, 26 and 27 – Feeling Very Pregnant

Week 25 002

I’ve been feeling quite pregnant recently. Hot, tired, uncomfortable and cranky. It’s only going to get hotter and I’m only going to get fatter and more uncomfortable. My poor family has three more months of putting up with my pregnant cranky butt.

As with all of my writing, I got behind on my pregnancy posts. Let’s catch up. Bare with me if this gets too long.

The past few weeks of my pregnancy have revolved around making my liver happy. It’s been a bit of a downer having to make a lot of decisions based on what the liver wants. Sucking down lemon water by the gallons and forcing down cans of beets gets old. It can be be quite unsatisfying to eat healthy food that leaves you hungry all the time. Some days I’ve done really good at making my liver happy, and other days I don’t do a great job. Sometimes I just can’t resist the deliciously bad for you greasy foods. Fried peach pie? Yes please! It’s also been hard to do a great job at making my liver happy when we’ve been traveling and on the go. Despite my occasional deviant behavior, I hope my liver issue is improving. We’ll see how I’ve done when I have my appointment next week. Raise your glasses of lemon water to a happy liver.

The other week when we were in Disney World, I probably over did it. I don’t spend my days at home on my rump, but I also don’t walk several miles a day. Walking laps on top of laps in Disney World in the blazing sunshine was more than Deuce and I’ve been used to. Deuce spent most of our trip balled up and asleep. After a few hours of activity my belly would get very heavy. It felt like someone had dropped a lead bowling ball into my belly. When we were standing in line for rides, Steve would lift my belly up and hold it up to relieve the pressure. After a few minutes of him hoisting up my belly, I’d have to make him let go because I got too hot. When we got home one night, I spent an hour in the giant garden tub being as weightless as possible. If I wasn’t so exhausted I couldn’t walk to the tub, I would have spent every night in that tub.

Moanna still hasn’t felt Deuce move. She has no patience waiting on Deuce to perform for her. I think it freaks her out to think about feeling a growing person inside my belly. She loves talking to Deuce and tickling my belly, but after a short moment of holding my belly and waiting for Deuce to move she frantically goes, “OK that’s enough! Maybe later.” While I’ve been writing this post, she did SEE my belly move. The first time her reaction was “What is Deuce doing in there to make your whole belly move?” The second time she became skeptical, and she thought I was making my belly move not Deuce. I asked her if she wanted to feel and she jumped across the couch and was all, “UGH no thanks Mom! That’s weird.”

On the topic of movement, other than our time in Disney World, Deuce has been out of control. Some days the moving is nonstop. From the time I wake up in the morning until I go to bed the kid is bouncing off my uterus walls. I’m not joking. We’re not talking sweet like pokes and bumps. No, no. I swear to you Deuce is spring boarding from side of my belly to the next making my entire belly quake. Monday, Deuce was so active that it was getting uncomfortable and at times painful. I begged Deuce to nap so my belly would relax. Begging didn’t work. Instead the little monkey was being spiteful and bounced and flipped around harder and faster. I have no idea what Deuce has been up to in there, but he’s/she’s been very busy. At least I know the little one is healthy and has a lot of energy. Steve’s explanation for the lack of napping and quite time on Deuce’s part is, “What would you be doing if you just discovered your arms and legs and motor skills?”

My peeing frequency has kicked into high gear. In part, I’m sure to the copious amounts of lemon water, but mostly because my bladder is running out of room. I can go awhile without having to go to the bathroom and then I’ll have to pee three times in one hour. At night I wake up around 2 or 2:30 and then again between 5:30 and 6  to pee. I’m not sure if this is Deuce’s way of telling me that these are the times he/she is going to be waking up for some grub, but it’s been pretty close to clock work in recent weeks. Sometimes I wonder if getting up to pee at 5:30 and then being wide awake, is also Deuce’s way of telling me to get out of bed and start my day. I haven’t tested those waters yet, but I’m taking it into consideration. After my morning trip to the potty, I go back to bed and sleep for a few more hours. My thought is I need the sleep while I can still get it. However, when it’s really time to get up I’m stiff and exhausted and not very willing to start my day. Something to ponder huh?

What else, what else…

Oh! Pregnancy heartburn is kicking in. Not terribly bad, but bad enough that Steve went out to the car to get the bottle of TUMS. I hope it doesn’t get too out of hand because I like my spicy food. With Moanna it got so bad near the end drinking water gave me heartburn. I still demanded the spice, but I paid for it in lack of sleep and munching on TUMS. I remember a few times during the last couple of weeks when it was so bad I cried. Moanna wasn’t even born with a head full of hair. Stupid old wives’ tales.

This is starting to get a bit long. It’s time to close. If I continue I might start talking to you about pregnancy gas, and well, I’d rather you not think of me in that way. At least for now.

Not surprised you feel very pregnant. You LOOK very pregnant….and wonderful! Did your momma tell you Nic is making me a grammy? Larry has 3 grandsons and Nic’s girlfriend has a 2 year old boy that calls me grandma so I’m sorta hoping for a little girl. And…multiple births have popped up in both sides of Erin’s family so….Yikes!!!

I did hear about Nic’s exciting news! Moanna asked for twins… I may not know if it’s a boy or a girl, but the ultra sound only had one Deuce in there!

I know what you mean about the heavy belly. I’m only 17 weeks, not really too much going on right now, but these last couple of weeks of running around for graduation and catering…well, it sure does take it’s toll on how heavy and hard the belly feels.
Hope Deuce calms down for you a bit!

Oh Tara! I can’t imagine being pregnant and running around VMI for catering events the way I used to. You’re my hero for the day!

I guess I missed the ‘liver’ issue. What is going on with your liver? You do look more pg than you did with Moanna. I’d say I wish I could help you with your discomfort but NO……I’m not that generous these days. Love you and look forward to see you in July.

aw….Mom! You mean you won’t give Renee your liver? That’s OK. At your age, if your liver isn’t shot…you haven’t lived right!
