13 Things
1. At 10:30am Steve was surfing and I was cleaning the house. There is something VERY wrong with this picture. If Moanna and I weren’t joining him in a couple of days for a family vacation time, I would be quite bitter. Instead, I’m just a little bitter.
2. I’m glad we don’t have an HOA in our neighborhood. However, it drives me mad that everyone uses a different trash service. Every single day there are trashcans out at the curb. What angers me more, every single day I am woken up (either early in the morning or from a nap) by the trash trucks of the day.
3. Why don’t homes in Georgia have screen doors? Seriously! Why? I’ve not seen a single home with a screen door since we moved here, and believe me I’ve been looking for them. Towards the end of February there are days that are warm enough to open the house up for some fresh air and all the way up until Thanksgiving there are warm days. It would make sense to me that there would be an abundance of screen doors. But, no. Instead, to get our fresh air, we have to open the doors and spend the evening with a fly swatter in hand combating the mutant bugs here in Georgia. The other option is to leave the doors (and windows) closed and turn on the AC. While most of you were still cranking the heat in at the end of March and through April, we had the AC running. One reason, the lack of screen doors (and several windows are missing screens), and the flipping pine pollen. If you leave the house open during pine pollen season, your house turns yellow.
4. Moanna is going through a thing where she likes to sleep on the floor. She takes all of her blankets and makes herself a bed on the floor. Why? “Because it’s fun.” “Because it’s like camping.” “Because it’s more comfier.” “Because it’s like having a sleepover.”
5. I used to think that water with lemon was such a luxurious and exquisite thing. I used to feel fancy and special when I had a lemon water. However, since I’ve been cleansing my liver, lemon water is not so special anymore. And this isn’t like a little wedge of lemon on the side of your glass kind of lemon water. This is an entire lemon squeezed and plopped into the glass – million times a day.
6. My midnight snack used to consist of a bowl of ice cream with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. Now my midnight snack is the following: 4 oz of liquid prenatal vitamins, 1 calcium/magnizium/zinc supplement, 1 vitamin C supplement, 3 dandelion root capsules, a dropper full of red raspberry and (yet again) another glass of lemon water.
7. I’m wearing Steve’s high school gym shorts.
8. I forgot what number 8 was…
9. At 1:15PM I was scrubbing the stove top when the phone rang. It was Steve. He was calling with “interesting news.” While surfing, he lost his wedding band. This is after losing a tres expensive pair of sunglasses while jet-skiing earlier this week. Before he called to share the “news” with me, he had his hand resized, called our jeweler and ordered a replacement. It will be here in two to three weeks. I cried, and then I cried some more when I realized that his replacement ring won’t be here for our wedding anniversary.
10. I’ve been fantasizing about my dream kitchen today. It has brushed stainless steel appliances and counter tops and dark wood cabinets. Some of the cabinets have glass translucent panels perhaps with a hint of an aqua tent. There are lots of windows. The back splash is made from aqua brick shaped glass tiles in a brick pattern. I’m not sure about the floors. Maybe a white tile of sorts with perhaps some tiny aqua tiles to accent it. I’ve also thought of white cabinets with a dark wood floor, but Steve doesn’t like white cabinets. I think he’s just not seen the right white cabinets. The mixer and other small appliances and accents are bright red. It has a large island with space to work at and space to dine. There is a prep sink and a large two bay sink for washing. The kitchen also has a professional grade dishwasher…
11. I could really use a cheeseburger right now.
12. I could also really use a nap.
13. Moanna is giving me puppy dog eyes about an ice cream sundae. This sundae she’s dreamed up has vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, peanut butter, whipped cream, sprinkles and a cherry. I told her I knew the perfect place to go on vacation for that kind of sundae. She’s excited, but still pouting for “some kind of ice cream” to hold her over until then…

The next time you visit family…go to a Home Depot or Lowes and buy screen doors & take them back to Atlanta with you! That is..if you are driving and you have room for the purchase! Or..can’t you order them online?????
We rent our house, so we don’t want to invest money into improving someone else’s property. However, we have thought about getting screens and taking them with us when we leave.
I’ve been whining about not having a screen door for 13 years…frankly, I don’t get it either!!
UP
It makes zero sense!
Your dream kitchen is the same as mine right down to the red accents with one great exception….no white floor. Have had light floors before. They need mopped constantly. I love my new wood floor. I’ve mopped like once or twice in two months. They might be really grungy but I can’t see it because they are stained the color of grunge!
I can’t decide on the floor (I have plenty of time to commit to it)! I thought about a nice wood floor, but with wood cabinets I don’t want it to be too dark and too much wood. At the moment I like white-ish floors so I can tell if it’s dirty or not. Right now our kitchen floor is a beige tile (everything is beige in this place – HATE IT) and I scrub and scrub the floors because I can’t tell if it’s dirt or the tile… It’s a good thing I have plenty of time to dream
I wore my husband’s boxers while I was pregnant…until I was too big to wear them. Then I bought my own (men’s) boxers. Size XL with the comfort soft waist. Heavenly!
I was going to comment on the whole “sleeping on the floor thing” but then the ring thing caught my eye. I didn’t even bother reading the rest of the post, though I will go back.
My husband for the longest time was unable to wear his ring. His finger would swell/shrink every other day, practically, and it was either too big or too small. If there was an occasion he could maybe wear it for a day, but for the most part it just didn’t work. So he kept it on his desk. A good spot where the kids couldn’t get to it (easily.. let’s face it, kids are kids), but in plain sight. One day, he realized it was missing. The thee “suspects” (friends) were three people who had access but would never in a million years do it. So we figured it had to have just fallen behind the desk or something. 2 years later, nothing. Come to find out, a couple of the maintenance men for our complex were recently fired because they had been stealing from homes while working on things in the homes, for years. So while we may never know, we are assuming that is what happened. And honestly, it’s better than the other option of it being one of the three who had access. Because really, they would never and it would break our hearts.
Honestly, I’m not even that upset. It was the best we could afford at the time, but I’d been hoping all along to replace both bands with something better down the road and now we kinda have to replace at least one (so why not both). No excuses. Even though he’ll have the same problem before and won’t be able to wear it day to day, it’s the symbol that counts.
