3 Reasons

Watermelon 032

There are countless reasons that I love Moanna. Words can’t describe how lovable this kid is. I swear to you, all biases aside, nearly everyone that meets her falls in love with her. Today, I’ll share 3 of the reasons this kid makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

1. Moanna is the most compassionate three year old I know.

Moanna has deep care and concern for other people. It is important to her that everyone is happy and healthy. If someone is not happy or healthy, she wants to know what she needs to do make them feel better. If I mention to Moanna that a friend of ours isn’t feeling well, she wants to send them a present to make them feel better, and then a few days later she wants to call or visit to see that they are all better. I am constantly blown away by how much she takes care of me when I’m not feeling well or having a bad day. She’ll rub my head and bring me snacks, and tell me that we should go out to eat so I don’t have to cook. Don’t get me started on how concerned she is in how Deuce is doing. “Make sure the baby isn’t getting cold. Here, let’s put a blanket on her so she is nice and snuggly.” Melt my heart.

2. Moanna sees the beauty in everything.

In Moanna’s eyes, everything in this world is beautiful. When Moanna goes out to play, she brings me handful after handful of flowers. The flowers are dandelions and other small weed flowers, but to her they are roses and orchids. Babies, puppies, birds, bugs, cows – they’re all, “So cute!” Moanna also loves to make her surroundings beautiful. She is forever running around the house decorating every nook and cranny she can find with her little trinkets and things she creates. She sees the world as a beautiful place, and she wants every square inch of it to be beautiful. To her it’s an honor to make something beautiful.

3. Moanna has no fear of being who she is.

I’m sure this will change as she grows up, but for now she doesn’t care what anyone thinks of her. She has no fear of rejection. If she wants something, she will ask for it without hesitation. She has no fear of wearing her crazy outfits, and dancing and singing at the top of her lungs at the grocery store. She has no fear of saying exactly what she thinks or feels. If you dare to tell her that her wisdom is wrong, she will look at you like you are a total nut. This is not to say that she isn’t opening to learning new things because she love, love, loves to learn, but if you tell her that something she knows is right is wrong, she will call you out on it. She knows who she is and she knows what she knows. The best part is that she loves being who she is.
