Moanna at the Hotel

Charlotte 026

Moanna loves hotels. She thinks they’re magical places where she can jump on the bed, swim, eat yummy food, play, push lots of buttons and sleep in the same room as Mommy and Daddy.

Earlier this week, we were reunited with Moanna in Charlotte, North Carolina. Because of Steve’s travel schedule,  we decided to spend the night in Charlotte at a hotel to maximize our time together. We wanted every second we could get together as a family before we had to return to the reality that is our lives.

An hour before we arrived at the hotel, we told Moanna about the surprise. She was very excited, but she wanted to make sure that the hotel we stayed in had a pool. She meant business. It would have been a terrible night for Moanna to put us in the dog house, so we had the hotel transfer our reservation to a hotel nearby that had an indoor pool. It turned out to be a cheaper rate anyway.

Before we were able to unload the bell cart, Moanna hoisted herself onto the bed and started jumping.

I thought she was going to jump forever, and she probably would have if she didn’t remember that she desperately needed to go to the pool.

It may look like she’s cheesing big for the camera, but what that face is really saying is, “It’s fa-fa-fa-fa-reezing in here.”

Steve and Mo’ took the cold water like champs and swam a few laps.

After a fifteen minutes of the pool, they beelined it for the hot tub to warm up.

This is real cheese. No teeth chattering here.

We had to pry Moanna away from the hot tub with promises of a pasta dinner and candy treats before bed.

Moanna was tuckered out. She’s usually the first one up in our household, but we must have warn her out.

When she finally woke up, she sat up in bed and said, “Mommy! It’s time for breakfast.” We were able to talk her into snuggling with us for awhile before we went downstairs for breakfast. After breakfast we went back up to the room to snuggle, snooze and watch Sesame Street. We lazed around until it was time for checkout.

Moanna rode the bell cart out to the car. She gave orders the whole way. “To the elevator!” “To the door.” “Next stop, the car.”

As a final treat, we went out for ice cream before Moanna and I had to say goodbye to Steve.

Moanna led the way the entire time we were at the hotel. She pushed all the buttons, opened all the doors and charmed everyone that worked there. She’s just like Eloise at the Plaza, but with better morals and manners.
