It’s Important that Mommies Sleep

Roanoke Greek Festival 004

It’s not often that a comedian can make me laugh to the point of tears. However, Jim Breuer’s clip “Why Mothers Need Sleep” had me laughing so hard that I couldn’t breathe. Why so funny? Because it’s so true!

Over the weekend I spent time with close friends of ours that were visiting from out of town. The Wifey of the family and I were talking about how our husbands can fall asleep in the matter of seconds regardless of time, location and other circumstances. We were talking about how unbelievably frustrating it is that while they are sleeping the night away, we are laying there wide awake getting bitter. A few minutes into our venting session, Wifey grabs my arm and goes, “Have you seen the video clip ‘Why Mothers Need Sleep’?” When I told her I hadn’t seen said video clip, she immediatly whipped out her laptop and goes, “You have GOT to see this.”

For the next 3 minutes and 41 seconds she and I stood there laughing and wiping tears from our eyes. When the video was over Wifey looks at me dead serious and goes, “I’ve had that exact same thing happen to me.” I looked at her and said, “This is why we don’t have pets.”

Thankfully Steve only snores when he’s sick… but he is a major bed hog

I saw this show on the Comedy Channel not that long ago. Here’s a man who gets it! This doesn’t apply to just the young mommies though. 30 years later…the story is still the same.
