Adams Family: Party of Four

Moanna is going to be a big sister, and our family is going to grow from a party of three to a party of four.

The debut of Deuce (that is what we are going to call the baby until he or she arrives) is expected at the end of August. Technical due date is August 25, 2011, but I know better than to mark it on the calendar. Deuce will arrive when Deuce is ready to greet the world. This puts me right at 12 weeks pregnant on Wednesday. Goodbye first trimester! Please take your headaches and gag reflex with you.

This ultrasound picture was taken on December 29, 2010 (Steve’s birthday). I was right at six weeks. We had an early ultrasound done to make sure the pregnancy was located in the right spot. The ultrasound confirmed Deuce was snuggled into a safe place, and we could all rest assured that chemo and emergency surgery were not in our future.

This ultra sound is from January 26, 2011 when we had our first real appointment. The midwife didn’t know we hadn’t told Moanna yet, and was all, “Are you excited about your new baby sister or brother?” No harm done. We planned to tell her that day anyway.

Isn’t it amazing how much Deuce developed in such a short amount of time? Look at the little legs and arms!

We also got to hear the heart beat during this ultrasound.

If it feels like I’ve been avoiding you for the past couple of months, your paranoia is warranted. It’s just that, I knew if we spent too much time together, I would let my secret slip (it’s so hard to keep things from you), and I wasn’t quite ready to make a public announcement. Not only was I trying to keep a secret, but I’ve been having aversions to the computer. I could never face you again if I threw up on you. Now that the secret is out in the open and the aversions are on the way out the door (I hope), we have so much to catch up on. I’ve been dying to tell you about the adventures I’ve had so far in this pregnancy. It’s been very different than my adventures with Moanna’s pregnancy.

Tomorrow I’ll tell you all about the first month of the pregnancy… I warn you, I was quite psychotic for most of it. What’s new, right?

Congrats! We got a Christmas card in the mail a few years ago with a photo of an ultrasound and a note that said Merry Christmas Grandma and Grandpa. That’s how we found out about having one of our grandkids so I’m a great fan of those little ultrasound photos that look like a peanut. It’s mind-boggling so I have to wonder what’s going on in little Moanna’s head when she looks them! Stay well <3
