Cabin Fever
It snowed four inches on Sunday night, and this metropolis remains at a near stand still. I am not exaggerating folks. Only the main roads have been plowed (if you can call it that) once, and the secondary roads and neighborhoods haven’t been touched. Instead the roads are solid sheets of ice and it sounds like ice shattering when someone drives by. Since I have no where, I really HAVE to go, I’ve stayed in the house for the past 4 days waiting for the snow to melt. I’m OK with driving on iffy roads (with extreme caution), but the peeps down here are, for the most part, not comfortable with winter weather driving, so I’m just going to stay out of their way.
I have about lost my mind! I’m know a lot of you thought I lost it a long time ago, but this time I’m sure it’s just about gone. I have not left this house since I went to church on Sunday. Four days, people. Four days! Knowing this, you would think that my house would be spic-and-span and that I would baking and crafting my hiney off. That is so not the case. First of all, I’m not a crafty person, and second of all, baking isn’t’ as fun with a gluten intolerant in the house. Mostly though, I’ve been tired and achy (summer please hurry, so I can’t get my pep back), so I’m good for about an hour or two a day, and then you can find my hiney on the couch.
It’s a whopping 31 degrees today and sunny. By the magic of the sun, things are pretending to melt. When the sun disappears in a few hours, everything is going to refreeze. Tomorrow, however, it’s going to be 41 degrees. Hallelujah! And for the foreseeable future the highs are going to be in the 40s and 50s. Tomorrow is going to be errands day, and this cabin fever will break.
Let’s just hope I make it through today with a hair of sanity intact.

I’m shocked at how much time the school districts have given to the locals here. I recall when 8 inches resulted in ONE snow day, MAYBE two IF we were lucky. A whole week? Me thinks the county needs to budget for some rock salt and snow plows!
Tell me about it!!! I swear we recovered quicker than this when we had 3 feet of snow last year in VA
A terrible mess in the south is just an average winter day up here! Driving on ice and snow doesn’t bother us. If it did, we’d not leave the house for 4 months! That said, I agree it’s the ones who have no idea how to negotiate slippery roads that keep everyone else locked up where it’s safe! Put your boots on and take a nice walk with your camera. That’ll cheer you up.
I swear if I don’t see people tomorrow, I’m going to go totally bananas!
