It’s Crunch Time!
When I wrote the title to this post I inside my head I was going, “It’s hammer time!” … Awkward silence… Moving on…
Exactly one week from today I will be waking up in Maryland stiff and groggy. I will have driven the twelve plus (please not plus) hours from our home in Atlanta to Steve’s parents, been reunited with My Shadow, hugged Steve’s parents, met Steve’s brother and his sweet family, unloaded the car, peed a lot (I don’t like to stop and pee when I’m on the road – only when the car needs gas, so I pay for it when I arrive at my destination) and etc. After the grogginess wears off it will be time for family holiday fun, and I’m super pumped – minus the hyperactive bladder and stiff neck part.
As exciting as this week countdown is, this also means that I have seven days to accomplish the things that are left on my to-do lists. Other than some paperwork, writing, blog tasks that I can do in Maryland via my computer, I have seven days to wrap up my 2010. We have spent the past five months settling into our Atlanta lives, and when 2011 starts I want to be settled – no more -ING, only -ED. I want to start 2011 with my house in order and a plan to keep my home and life in order. As much fun as by-the-seat-of-my-pants-2010 has been, I am not interested in a repeat.
I have errands to run, things to buy, cleaning to do, clutter to fight and a car to pack. The heartburn just set in. I accept that I’m not going to get it ALL done, but there are a lot of things that MUST get done and the time has come to do them.
I am out of time to procrastinate and have melodramatic meltdowns. There is no time left for anxiety, nor is there anytime left to be paralyzed by perfectionism. It’s time to suck it up girl scout and get to it. The running shoes are on. It’s crunch time!
**In the interest of avoiding perfectionism and saving sanity, cleaning the windows and blinds has been removed from the list. Why? Because it is too gosh darn cold to be the close to the windows. Instead, I will be shrink wrapping them to keep the cold air out. I covered a couple of windows last week that were letting in the most cold air, an I kid-you-not, the wind coming through those windows has been so strong that it ripped the plastic away from the wall and I have to redo them. It’s like we live on the Frontier in the middle of February! My toes and nose are froze.

Good luck! And yes, here’s hoping 2011 comes with a lot of good stuff. 2010 has been pretty rough.
I’m sorry 2010 has been rough for you and your family. I’m hoping, praying and, dare I say, expecting 2011 to bring a lot of great things!
