The Gift of Time

Don’t forget to set your clocks back tonight! It’s that time of year again. It’s going to start getting dark really early, but at least it’s going to be sunny in the mornings at least for awhile. Of course, if you get up at 5:00AM, there is no hope for rising with the sun for you. If I let it, this setting back the clocks can be really sad for me. It signals that winter is coming and that there will be less sunshine and warmth in my life in the coming months. For now, I’m going to ignore that fact. I’ve decided to focus on the fact that I get an extra hour in my day tomorrow.

Don’t we all, at some point or another, wish for an extra hour? Because, with that extra hour we could really get things done. Finish that project. Catch up on sleep. Finish those dreaded errands. I know that the extra hour we get tomorrow, will be taken away from us in the spring, so really we aren’t gaining or loosing anytime. It will all even out. However, let’s pretend this extra hour is ours to keep forever. What are you going to do with your extra hour?

Haven’t thought of it much? I’ll give you some though joggers…

Exercise

Pray

Bake

Sleep

Make phone calls

Read

Shop

Snuggle

Meditate

Decorate for Christmas

Pedicure

Clean

… did that help?

I’m torn between a nap and a hard place. Just kidding. I plan to use my extra hour tomorrow for spending time with my little family. I’m working hard to get caught up on a few projects today, so that tomorrow is nothing but family fun day. We’ll have a nice breakfast, play around the house, go to church, have dinner (please let there be left overs), watch a movie, snuggle, maybe go to bed early.

Before you go to bed tonight, set  your clocks back. AND change the batteries in your smoke and carbon detectors!

My extra hour was spent staying up late spending time with my husband. It’s been an interesting day, though — the wall clock in the living room still hasn’t been set back, so I’m between seeing it as a quarter to 5 and a quarter to 6.

I still need to work on the microwave clock and the docking station… it just takes me awhile to remember how to set them

I noticed the extra hour when I woke up this morning thinking it was 6 stupid o’clock and realized it was…OMG… only 5!!! Admittedly, I frittered away the extra hour just pondering the ridiculous notion of time and wondering why we play with it.

Well Saturday night I took an Elavil (spelling?) because I was feeling rough, achy, drained and such and needed to “reset”… you know get a good night of deep sleep… I don’t hurt anymore… but I got stuck between awake and asleep yesterday morning until 11am!!! And then, I was drunk for most of the day… my extra hour was long gone before the day started.
