Haïti Aide: Comments of Hope for Haiti
So far we’ve raised about $150.00 for Angel Wings International in our virtual fundraiser! Thank you so much for supporting this wonderful organization!
The fundraiser will continue through the end of October 15, 2010.
For the next five days, each new comment on Me, Myself and Mommy will be worth $0.25 towards our virtual fundraiser for AWI! You may comment on this post by leaving your prayers of hope for Haiti below, as well as, as many other past posts in the archives as you’d like to comment on. All I ask is that your comments be genuine and add to the conversation of the post. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accept spam comments, or comments that have a spamish nature (ie an abundance of comments by one reader that do not relate to the post).

A reminder of how the fundraiser works…
To support the dream of AWI, Me Myself and Mommy is holding a virtual fundraiser (at least that’s what we’ll call it). At the end of October we will be making a donation to AWI. How large of a donation? Well that depends on you. The more followers, likes and subscribers Me, Myself and Mommy gains by October 15, 2010 the larger the donation will be.
Here are the logistics
For every new “Like” Me, Myself and Mommy gains on Facebook we will donate $0.25
For every new “Follow” Me, Myself and Mommy gains on Twitter we will donate $0.25
For every new “Subscriber” Me, Myself and Mommy gains through Feedburner we will donate $0.50.
On September 1, 2010 we had
325 Like
5,926 Followers on Twitter
68 Subscribers through Feedburner
At the end of the October 15, 2010, we will do a big ol’ math equation to come up with the total donation. For example, it will do something like this:
550 – 325 = 225 new Likes * $0.25 = $56.25 raised from Facebook
Please keep in mind these donations are for NEW Likes, Followers and Subscribers. If you already do one of the above or all three, have no fear, we still need your help! We are depending on you to spread the word to your Friends, Followers, Readers, Church Folk, Hairdressers, Neighbors and ExLovers. This virtual fundraiser will not succeed without your support.

I think it is wonderful that you are focusing your charitable efforts toward an entity that you are personally associated with. So often we send out good wishes and dollars through groups that we really cannot or do not hold accountable for what they do. Also, I feel the best kind of positive impact we can have is by focusing on something we can do over an extended period of time rather than a short term, feel good, quick fix plan. Most of the challenges we face in our complicated world require a long term solution and real perseverance to administer it. Thanks for being part of the solution and inspiring us to be part too.
I agree! We are often so eager to help in the beginning and quickly lose focus and interest. It’s like we want that feel good feeling of “I helped someone” but we don’t really want to commit to it long term

This is such a great Idea to raise funds for the AWI. If each person could just keep in mind that something as simple as this could help, it would make a world of difference. Hopefully this will help a great deal and bring hope to those in Haiti.
