Hello, It’s Cold
What ever happened to transitions? It went from being hot here to cold in a split second. There was no grace period. No time to prepare and batten down the hatches. Weather, this is not cool man. I am not happy with you at all.

This is the temperature outside. Some of you are giggling right now at my flailing about over 44 degrees. To many of you this is not cold.
When I woke up this morning it was under 65 degrees in my house, so not cool.
So

I started boiling water as an excuse to turn on the stove and heat up the kitchen as I made Steve’s lunch. Today I love having a gas stove. After half an hour I decided to turn put the boiling water to use and make hot cocoa. Women way back in the day didn’t spend all day in the kitchen because it took them all the live long day to cook. They just convinced the men that this was necessary so they could spend all day huddled in the only warm room in the house drinking hot cocoa. Sometimes I daydream about living way back in the day. These daydreams take place in the summer because I would never survive the winters.

I also pulled out Ol’ Faithful. He kept me toasty in my old office. I would have this bad boy cranking in the summer months because the AC in that building was enough to freeze an Eskimo.
I am sure you would love to see a picture of me this morning looking like a wrinkled mess, but I was not about to take a picture of myself under this kind of stress (yes being cold is stressful to me). I put on my Hoodie today. It deserves a capital H because my Hoodie has been my lifeline over the past five years. I bought this thing the day I was accepted into VT, and we’ve been through a lot together. In Virginia I wore my Hoodie almost daily, even in the summer. Today is the first day that I’ve worn my Hoodie since we moved here. Folks, that’s impressive for how cold natured I am. I didn’t even wear a long sleeve shirt until yesterday. The ladies in my office would be so proud.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go bake potatoes to put at the foot of my bed tonight to keep from losing my toes to frostbite.

HA! I was just complaining to Corwin about that last night (the lack of transition). We went from sleeping with just a sheet straight to all the floof of a down comforter and everything in between, and our noses were still cold. Yipes!
Good luck keeping warm!
I don’t adapt well to sudden climate change
That sucks when you don’t get that transition, which is usually what happens here in North Central Florida. This time, however, we lucked out. Well, enjoy your cocoa! We’ll be doing the same here this evening. Mmm, cocoa!
I’m glad you are getting a nice transition into the colder months
I know how you are feeling! That is how things went down here in New Orleans! I had complained about the heat and humidity since moving here in July then suddenly overnight it is freezing and breezy! Most of my winter clothes are still in Virginia
New Orleans sounds fun!
sending all my hotflashes down your way…<3
Aww… you Americans are too cute with your cold tolerance. (We’re being spoiled up here with STUNNING weather right now – It was 73F here yesterday!! =)
FYI (and I hope I don’t offend) – “Eskimo” is a fairly offensive/racially-insensitive word where I come from. Which someone in Virginia probably wouldn’t know because I’m betting that there aren’t too many Inuit living down there. (Just so you know…)
