New Toys, Tools… Toys

I have to apologize for being so pissy on Monday. It was a series of unfortunate events on top of hormones, and when the two mixed together it created a very unstable chemical bomb. The situation has been defused. Tuesday my new bathing suit arrived. It’s a tankini with boy-short bottoms so I no longer have to shave every single day, giving myself the worst razor burn known to man kind. As of yesterday afternoon, the internet had been activated; we now have super-fast internet. Yesterday evening someone finally came to fix the fridge. When I went to bed last night the temperature was still in the “danger zone” so I was a little irritated. However, I am happy to report that when I woke up this morning and got a glass of water it was ice cold – maybe too cold. We are still waiting on our shower to be fixed, but with those other issues resolved I am no longer a ticking bomb.

Also, I have new toys! Maybe their tools? I’m not sure, guess it depends on your perspective as to what qualifies as a tool.

Behold!

No it’s not one of those fancy front loader washers or one of those steaming dryers, but it’s brand spanking new and it’s all mine. The really fancy stuff wasn’t in the budget, plus I’ve heard some iffy things about those fancy front loaders. I hear that they are not as effective and cleaning your clothes as a top loader.

Look at all those buttons!

When we left Virginia, we left our crummy, broken, disgusting vacuum. Less than 24 hours after we arrive in Atlanta we went out and purchased this bad boy.

We got the smaller model so I could lug it up and down the stairs when Steve isn’t home. Plus look how cut it is.

So are these toys or tools? And if they are tools why can’t I deduct them off of my taxes as a “business expense”? It is after all my business to keep the house clean and the family happy and healthy.

In other news, I have a problem…

Moanna found one of her old binkis this morning, and has popped it in her mouth. First, that’s gross. There is no telling where that thing has been. Second, I hope she isn’t going into relapse. When she say the look on my face when she walked in the room with it she said, “It’s just for pretend.” I figured we all visit the unhealthy parts of our pasts, and it would be hypocritical to deny her of that guilty pleasure. It’s kind of like going through a box of old high school memories or stuffing your face with deliciously bad for you food after being on a healthy diet for months. I’ll let her play with it today, and then tomorrow it’s time to put that thing back in the past. I do admit that my heart melted a little bit remembering her toddling around with her binki.

Just think of the stress you’ve been under with all the recent changes in your routine. It’s happening to Mo, too! Perhaps it was no coincidence she happened upon an old comfort item that helps soothe her own transition from the past into the future. And, if she does have difficulty parting with it you can at least be thankful she’s not backsliding into a drug or alcohol habit! BTW, I’m envious of your new vaccuum. Mine is a tank to push and pull.

The past few weeks has been a lot for all of us to take in. Every time we open a box with some of her stuff in it it’s like Christmas. I’m sure her little heart fluttered when she found a binki. She keeps asking when we’re going back to Buena Vista and we tell her that we will go visit often, but this is our new home. She doesn’t get it and that’s OK; it’s a lot to comprehend.

kids adapt quicker than we adults do to changes. Mo will be comfortably settled before you get all the boxes unpacked!

New tools (toys) are great because they make your work easier and it’s always fun to have something new…..even if it’s a tool. I’m having my living room painted and making new curtains. Just a little lift. Had Josh move my furniture around so it looks different and will make me feel I have a new living room. Going to paint my end tables flat black and distress them. Then…..watch out……I may do the curio cabinet too. I wish I had the energy for all of my mental energy. I can dream up lots to do but just don’t have the energy I used to…….which agravates the H—— out of me. Oh well…………I am older but I hope wiser??????????

Enjoy the changes in your life. Keeps things new and interesting. Do they have a Newcomers or the like there? I’m sure your church will be a great place for finding new friends. LOVE YA ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Changing things up a bit is refreshing and cleansing. I can’t wait to see how everything looks when you’re done

Yay! Hot water to shower in, a cold fridge to store your food, appliances to wash and dry your clothes, and a spankin’ new vacuum? That’s definitely enough to take a bad mood and flip it around into a good one.

As for the binki, Moana can loose it as easy as find it. She probably will in a day or so and then she will probably never remember it again. For Keely it happened twice with no big deal until a loving relative found out she had lost it and bought her three with great fanfare and adoration. I wanted to kill them. Then it became a power struggle…not worth it! 20 years later I realize that she would have not had it when she went to kindergarten so what was my deal!
Glad things are feeling better–cold things cold and hot things hot.

I remember how liberated I felt when I had my first very own washer and dryer. It was close to life changing! No more going to the hot creepy laundromat. No more hoping I had enough money on hand to satisfy the dryers. (I once had ALL of my clothes stolen when I left briefly. BIG MISTAKE!) Also it’s a huge time saver!! I assure you they are already a necessity and a prerequisite for any new home. There’s no going back. Dishwasher is a close second. Your new tools are beautiful and I fully support you listing them as a business expence. There may actually be some sort of deduction for energy saving appliances besides.
As far as the binky goes, she sure is a good pretender. I suggest you find a place to hang up her old friend for her like we did before in the TV room in BV. She sure looks happy though…..(and soooo adorable)
