Momversation – Balancing the Load: A Working Mommy’s Secrets
On December 2, 2009 a blog post that I wrote for Momversation was posted.
It is the first time I have contributed to another website, so it was a very exciting day to say the least. For those of you not familiar with Momversation, it is one of my favorite Mommy websites. Momversation discusses topics from all aspects of parenting through short videos and blog posts. It’s hilarious, emotional and controversial. It’s amazing.
For my contribution, I chose to write about life as a working mom. I’m sorry to let you down, but I did not share any secrets about keeping your child on a schedule or keeping your house clean. Why? Because I don’t know how to do either of those with the line of business I’m in. Instead, I shared some of things things I’ve learned that help me accept the chaos and stay somewhat sane.

Speaking of sanity, how do you manage to remain sane when you have too much to do?

Congrats! What an awesome honor!
I manage to keep myself sane through music. Since I ride the bus to commute to and from work, I’ve got plenty of time to listen to whatever suits me at that moment. I can tell you I feel different when I’ve not had my music time. I think scheduling in time to read my favorite blogs also helps me to realize I’m not alone. I’ve found so many similar people this year, and it’s just been a great blessing.
How did I stay sane? I do recall I stayed on my feet when I got home from work until I got everything done I needed to because if I dared to sit down, it was over. Today, when I need extra energy at home, I crank up Metallica. It overrides the ringing in my ears and helps shake the cobwebs out of my head. With the house rumbling and vibrating, it’s much easier to ignore fatigue!
[...] I wrote a post that was published on Momversation on December 2nd. It was so exciting to see something that I had written on a website that I admire. Writing that post taught me just how hard it is to write for someone else, especially since the topic was open ended. I look forward to doing similar projects in the future. [...]
